CEO cognitive biases can shape perceptual frameworks and information interpretation patterns, influencing professional judgments and, through their impact on accounting estimates, generating structural consequences for financial reporting transparency and capital market reactions. This study examines the effect of CEO cognitive biases, specifically optimism and myopia, on accounting estimates, focusing on companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange from 2013 to 2023. The findings indicate that CEO optimism intensifies bias in accounting estimates, leading to overstatements of future performance and profitability. CEO myopia further reinforces these biased estimates. Additionally, power concentration arising from dual roles can amplify the influence of these cognitive biases on the estimation process. Sensitivity analyses confirm the robustness and stability of the results, demonstrating how cognitive biases systematically shape financial reporting patterns. This research provides a behavioral explanation of accounting estimates and highlights the need to design and strengthen governance mechanisms to mitigate the effects of CEO cognitive biases.
